Pietro Lorenzetti’s stunning panel painting, Christ between Saints Paul and Peter (c.1320), is unveiled for the first time following its acquisition by the Ferens Art Gallery in 2013. Having undergone extensive conservation treatment and research at the National Gallery, London, the panel reveals the dazzling world of early 14th-century Sienese painting.
The exhibition places the panel in context, and is the outcome of the National Gallery Curatorial Traineeship with Art Fund support and the assistance of the Vivmar Foundation. The panel was acquired with support from the Ferens Endowment Fund and John Bradshaw Bequest, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Art Fund.
