Here at Hull Museums we are dedicated to representing the diversity of our audiences and exploring our local heritage. We had noticed that we were not fully doing this for our LGBTQ+ visitors and we wanted to change that by increasing the LGBTQ+ narratives found in our interpretation, programming, and engagement.
In July 2020 we launched the Pride In Our City digital exhibition with help from many of you. This exhibition was a huge success and included many voices from Hull sharing their own experiences and thoughts on identifying as LGBTQ+ in our city. If you have not visited the exhibition yet, view it here – click here!
But why stop there? The digital exhibition was just the start, and the Pride In Our City project continues. Our goal is to continue providing the spaces and opportunities for you to get involved, to share your thoughts and your contributions to help us ensure that LGBTQ+ narratives are present and visible throughout Hull Museums and the Ferens Art Gallery.
