Event Ends:

This year’s Big Draw will tie in with the STEAM theme (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) and is also inspired by the Framed project’s selected collections. The event will offer free drawing activities aimed at a range of ages, and all activities will be designed to challenge participants’ ideas of how drawings can be made, as well as providing an opportunity to develop new drawing skills.

This event will link in with the October half term event programme, with the aim to place museums firmly in the mind of the family audience as the ‘cultural go to place’ in the run up to 2017. There will be a central activity based in a marquee in the Museums Quarter gardens, and events are to take place in Hull and East Riding Museum, Streetlife Museum and Wilberforce House.

Exciting activities which will be on offer on the day include: Showcasing examples of machines which draw; Using magnifying glasses/sheets and fine liners to create miniature worlds; Using modified drawing materials to create giant drawings; Blackboard art; Drawing in response to music; Observational drawing from nature, inspired by the Natural History collections.
