In the words of the artist: ‘Struggling with paint, I discovered the secret of the Old Masters! It has got nothing to do with pigments or oils or varnishes, nor with the camera lucida obscura. The secret of the Old Masters is their very practical division of the work process in three different stages.

First they made a drawing, then a grisaille and on top of that some colour. We are going to do a painting during the workshop using this technique. The workshop is instructive for amateurs and informative for professional painters and curators.’
