We are pleased to welcome Michael Peppiatt, a close friend and confidant of Francis Bacon, to the Ferens Art Gallery this season. At the age of 21, Peppiatt was introduced to Francis Bacon, where he maintained a relationship with him for 30 years. During this time, he gained insight into the life and mind of this great artist and his art.

Michael is a prolific writer, art historian and curator and published ‘Francis Bacon in Your Blood: A Memoir’ which was named The Sunday Times art book of the year. This unique talk will see Peppiatt reflecting on Francis Bacon’s career looking at select pieces of work, combining the story of his life with the incredible art that he produced. This event sits alongside a year long loan of Bacon’s Head VI (1949) which is on display at the Ferens Art Gallery.
