Humber Museums Partnership launched a new Small Grants Scheme for Independent Museums in the Humber Region at the Museum Development Yorkshire Forum on the 28th June at Normanby Hall. Presentations from the Grant Administrator and Project Grant Mentor can be accessed from the Applicant Resource Links at the end of this post.
The new grants will help to engage new and diverse audiences with hidden and untold stories within the collections of the regions Museums.
The fund offers grants between £500 – £5,000. The total fund is £40,000. Grants are paid 85% at the start of project delivery by successful applicants. Applications can be made to one of two rounds this August and October. All applicants need to register with the Grant Administrator, Dominic Rogan, and discuss their project with us and the Small Grants Project Mentor, Sarah Oswald, before applying. A support schedule with key dates of workshops and application closing dates can be accessed from the Applicant Resource Links.
The partnership wants to help museums tell broad and diverse ‘Stories of the Humber region’ through new interpretation and engagement activity, while assisting to help recovery of visitor numbers over the coming year to make all museums in the Humber resilient and relevant to communities across Yorkshire and the Humber.
The Small Grant Project Mentor support programme detail is contained within the Grant Guidance in the Applicant Resource Links. This free programme is aimed at helping Humber region museums to develop their projects before submitting an application through a pre-application workshop. It will then provide support workshops and one to one assistance to successful grant recipients through their project delivery and evaluation project.
Through this programme Humber Museums Partnership hopes to support the regions museums in growing their skills and capacity for future bids to museum funding bodies.
