Curated by Invisible Dust, Offshore: Artists Explore the Sea takes place at the Ferens Art Gallery and the Hull Maritime Museum, and opens on Saturday 1st April 2017. Artists John Akomfrah, Tacita Dean, China Mieville, Martin Parr and Marielle Neudecker feature in this major new exhibition of internationally renowned artists, writers, scientists and filmmakers.

 

Offshore: Artists Explore the Sea includes ambitious new art commissions that relate to the museums’ collections. New and existing work by internationally renowned artists will be shown alongside selected work from the Gallery and Museum’s collection of fine art and maritime objects. The exhibition explores sea-related themes, including monster myths, local fishing communities, Hull’s role as a maritime city and the implications of climate change.

 

Offshore: Artists Explore the Sea is produced by Invisible Dust in partnership with Hull Culture and Leisure and is supported by Arts Council England and the Wellcome Trust Sustaining Excellence Award.
